For instance....Triple D spent 30 days in rehab and then went to a half way house. Not all sober houses are the same BTW especially price wise. We paid $450 to get her in and told her that we would pay for a month's living but that was all. We left before she signed the contract. In this contract there was a clause that stated "if you use drugs, you will be asked to leave the house. You may come back when you can test negative and pay another $450". The second week into it she used. They booted her out and refused to let her back in until she had the money.......we said no way and she came home.
I know she signed the contract and she did do the drug. I have 2 problems though... A- there was no mention of $$ on the website. There was no mention of having to pay extra in the house rules or the client contract. Read them yourself........... http://www.dignityhouse.net/house.html
B- the rehab place didn't disclose the second fee or they didn't know about it......either way we would have lost $450 had Triple D refused to sign the paper at that time.
Who pays the fees? The hopeful family...the optimistic family..... everyone knows the GOD DAMN drug addict doesn't have any money.......they don't have a car.........they don't have a job.........they may even be under court order to be there........ GRRRRRR
There are 3 sober houses owned by these people......a total of 27 women can be housed.....they charge 185 per week. Plus the "one time" fee of 450. The turn over is ???? making 450 come along????
Psychology Today says http://www.psychologytoday.com/articles/201007/the-new-quitter
"The dirty little secret about addictions is that relapsing is the rule, not the exception." The rehab center has the drugging population brainwashed into believing that relapse, if not spoken out loud, had less of a chance of happening. That if you worry about it .......it will happen.
So tell me if relapse is the rule and NOT the exception.................
Who's fucking making the money here?????
The rehab center suggested the place. Now I'm not saying that there is something stinking in the cellar.......but............another strange occurrence happened. This had to do with Triple D's indecision on where to go in the first place.
Her first stint in rehab started with detox. Rehab center 1 found her a bed in a detox place and after that she was supposed go back to Rehab 1. Well.......she meets this girl and the girl tells her about this other rehab......being the co-dependent person that I am.......I call this Rehab 2. OOOO they are soooo happy to take Triple D and they tell me they will make all the arrangements. I never get a return phone call from Rehab 2 so I call detox. I'm told that there is .....um..... an ethical ??? um........well, hell, Rehab 1 already has dibs on Triple D and Rehab 2 backed off when they found out........now you tell me........what is the word I'm looking for???
Anyway..........
I've been wondering lately where things went wrong in Triple D's life. Here at the house she lay around day after day in her room, curtains closed, cell phone near by. I wondered if she was suffering from depression or just not finding any joy from life being sober.
I guess it's not too fun to be sober all the time.
The counselors say that the drug high brings Triple D's serotonin up by 10 times the normal level. For instance, if I feel a 5 when I see something wonderful or do something fun, the druggie feels a 10 plus. I ask ....why would anyone stop drugs if they knew they would only feel a 5 forevermore???
Frustration abounds.......
I can't even begin to imagine the anguish that parents go through in this situation. Sometimes, I watch that tv show, Intervention and see what families go through.
ReplyDeleteIf it's a question of depression in some patients, I wonder why that's not treated with medication.
Thanks GG for you thoughts.
ReplyDeleteIntervention is a good show.....but pay attention to the ending where it tells were the person and their family are right now....it's really sad that most have "relapsed"
PS She is receiving meds but they don't help/work if she goes out and does a drug to get high with. This is part of the on going problem too (i think)
